Barb and Wally* were estranged from their son for several years. They live in BC and he has been living on the streets in Saskatchewan. Each day that passed without hearing from him was filled with concern for their son.
Several weeks ago, one of our staff was in the city for appointments with several TC clients. While making their way through the downtown core, someone caught their attention. They noticed a man on the street that needed food and they felt compelled to help.
They went into a local Tim Hortons and bought a sandwich for him. He was grateful for the food and appreciated the kindness. The group spent some time chatting and the conversation eventually led to Teen Challenge and how the program has changed their lives.
The next afternoon, we took a call from Barb & Wally. They were looking for information about how to get their son into Teen Challenge.
Their son was the young man that received the sandwich the day before and something about that conversation made him realize he was done with living on the streets and was ready for change. He reached out to his parents and after years of silence, he asked for help. He wants to go to Teen Challenge and asked for their support.
Isn’t it amazing what God is doing in the background?
You never know when God will use you to plant a seed, to push over the first domino that sets off a series of events you never could have imagined. Our team didn’t know the impact that sandwich would have but it has reunited a family and prompted profound change in a young man’s life.
The potential impact of your actions is incredible if you’re willing to listen and act. We hope you are encouraged by this story of hope!
