A Teen Challenge graduation is the celebration of a transformed life!
When a client graduates, it represents 12 months of hard work, determination, and surrendering to God’s authority in their life. This is a significant milestone, and we want to celebrate with them.
Each graduation is unique, but the underlying message remains the same – we are proud of you and encourage you in the next stage of your journey!
On graduation day, we invite family and friends to join us. In addition, there are Teen Challenge Canada staff and volunteers that also take part. Our doors are always open to sponsors and supporters as well. It’s a wonderful opportunity to witness the powerful impact of their investment in changed lives.
What To Expect?
What celebration would be complete without music? We sing praises to our God who offers forgiveness and grace to each of us – despite our past. Music is packed with emotion, and this part of the graduation can be a moving experience.
A charge to the graduate offers encouragement as they move into the next chapter of their story. These words affirm the graduate and inspire them as they take their next steps.
As we commemorate the transformation of the graduate, it’s important to hear their story – what led them to Teen Challenge and how God has worked in their life during their stay. This is, after all, what we are celebrating!
Reflecting on the past and putting their story into words is a healing process for these men and women and our staff are there to support and guide them. We feel sharing their story is a significant part of the recovery journey.
A Grad’s Perspective
For our clients, graduation day can be a mix of emotions. It is the pinnacle of their hard work, self-reflection, and accomplishments. A chance to celebrate how far God has brought them from the day they walked through the doors.
On the other hand, it can also feel intimidating to take the next step. Whether it’s Phase4 or transitioning back to everyday life, there will be less structure, less boundaries, and more freedom after being part of the core program.
Our Ongoing Care program provides a range of support to graduates. If they are struggling, the coordinator can refer him or her to a Teen Challenge addictions counsellor. Family, churches, and community also provide crucial support.
Our grads can walk forward in confidence because they have developed leadership skills, are maturing in their faith and are seeing the fruit of their months of hard work. There is life after addiction and change is possible!
Why Should You Attend?
If you support Teen Challenge Canada, attending a graduation allows you to witness the transformative work that happens during our 12-month program. Being part of this celebration is a poignant moment and reminds you of why you chose to get involved in the first place!
If you have a loved one that is struggling with addiction, attending a graduation can give you hope that change is possible.
If you belong to a local church that supports Teen Challenge Canada, joining us for a graduation gives you a glimpse of our life-changing program.
Not only will your attendance inspire you, but it encourages our graduates and other clients. Imagine looking out at the many faces in the crowd that say, “we support you; we are proud of you.” Your attendance speaks volumes.
