At Teen Challenge Canada, our mission is to demonstrate God’s love by helping individuals become free from substance addiction and equipping them to live full and meaningful lives. Because we are not government funded, we can only do that, thanks to the generous financial support of our donors.
Transparency
Being transparent with our financials not only keeps us accountable but also builds trust with our supporters. Our audited financial statements are accessible at any time on our website.
Additionally, we share highlights of the year’s financial picture in our annual Impact Report. This guide is packed with information about every aspect of Teen Challenge Canada and is a glimpse at what happens at our centres each day. All our financial supporters receive a copy of this report in addition to being available online.
“Teen Challenge Canada operates with transparency and accountability, not only to respect the generosity of our donors, but also to be pleasing to God.”
— Jim Palmer, Director of Finance, Teen Challenge Canada
Responsible Stewardship
Teen Challenge Canada is committed to the highest standards of financial stewardship. As a donor-funded ministry, each dollar is spent after careful consideration of the cost, immediate benefit, and potential impact. Our spending always aligns with our mission and the intention of our donors.
We are proud to operate this ministry with 81% of funds directly supporting our program. Each dollar entrusted to us is used to maximize impact and extend our reach to those in need of addiction recovery. The services we offer our clients are crucial for their recovery and it’s only possible because of our partners.
We keep our administration costs low (4.7%) by centralizing admissions, call centre, accounting, and support tasks for all our centres.
Privately-run, in-residence, substance rehabilitation programs are cost-prohibitive for many people looking for freedom from addiction. Our nominal fee of $1,100 allows our program to be accessible to anyone desiring lasting change.
Independent oversight
Our National Board of Directors provides guidance, expertise, and insight to Teen Challenge Canada. Our by-laws dictate that board members serve without compensation, ensuring accountability and independent oversight.
This dedicated group of professionals ensures Teen Challenge Canada operates within all laws, regulations, and reporting standards. They review our financial statements, approve budgets, and ensure all resources are used appropriately.
When you give to Teen Challenge – through sponsorship, donation, partnership, or donating a vehicle or items to the thrift store – you can give with confidence, knowing that our organization remains focused on our goal; helping men and women across Canada break the chains of addiction and walk the road of recovery.
